About Journal

The journal Culture of Place Conservation & Regeneration has been established with the aim of expanding both theoretical and applied knowledge in the fields of urban heritage and architecture, in Iran and internationally. The journal seeks to provide an interdisciplinary platform for dialogue, research, and innovation concerning the conservation, regeneration, and continuity of cultural life within historical places and spaces. From the perspective of this journal, cultural heritage is not merely a remnant of the past, but rather a living network of meaning, place, and identity. As such, its preservation and revitalization require not only cultural understanding, but also the strategic integration of contemporary knowledge and emerging technologies. In this context, the journal critically examines the role of modern scientific approaches, particularly artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital modeling, in the conservation and regeneration of architectural and urban heritage, adopting a forward-looking and future-oriented perspective. The application of machine-learning algorithms in heritage documentation, damage assessment, restoration simulation, and the reinterpretation of historical patterns constitutes one of the journal’s key innovative directions.

Furthermore, the journal emphasizes the strengthening of the relationship between theory and practice. On the one hand, it explores the philosophical, cultural, and ethical foundations of place conservation; on the other, it presents emerging experiences, materials, technologies, and methodologies in conservation and restoration practice. The vision of the journal is to become a scientific and intellectual reference in the field of urban heritage and architecture in Iran and the wider region—serving as a space where tradition, science, and technology converge in a constructive and critical dialogue to support the protection, regeneration, and deeper understanding of cultural places.
